What We Do

At Big Red we strengthen families and fight for the fatherless through camps, events, and resources.

Strengthening families through fun is always one of our goals. We host:

1. Father/Son Campouts
2. Family Campouts
3. Mother/Daughter Retreats
4. Family Days at Big Red's Ranch
5. And we host church events for families.

We manage a 300 acre camp in Mission, Texas called Brand Christian Youth Camp. The camp has 60 beds, two kitchens, a pavilion, various activities, and a seven acre lake. Our activities includes canoeing, archery, swimming in the lake, gaga ball, human foosball, bazooka ball, paintball with some groups, water slide, tether ball, water games, field games, and more. At the camp we host Daycamps, overnight camps, group campouts, missions trips, church retreats, Boy Scout and Girl Scout troops, school field trips, and other community events. For many kids and even adults it's their first experience in a canoe, shooting a bow, or catching a fish.

We also manage a 60 acre Ranch we call Big Red's Ranch in San Benito, Texas. At Big Red's Ranch we have horses, a mini horse, peacocks, chickens, goats, pigs, rabbits, koi fish, two cats, two small dogs, turkeys, and a donkey. Kids love animals and families connect as they enjoy interacting and learning about the animals at the ranch. At the ranch we have a swimming pool, a barn, a gaga ball pit, a human foosball arena, and we are adding more. Our activities include canoeing, archery, swimming in the pool, gaga ball, human foosball, bazooka ball, paintball with some groups, slip n slide, water games, field games, and more. We host Daycamps, Family Day Events, Campouts, Church Picnics, Youth Group Work Days, and more.

We Fight for the Fatherless by supporting single mothers through scholarships for our camps and events. We have hosted an event we call "What every boy should know". This is an event for boys where we teach them how to drive a tractor, change a tire, shoot a bow, catch a fish, and other fun activities they may have missed. At our Father/Son Campouts we provide sponsors for boys whose fathers cannot attend. At every event we host we encourage the boys and girls that God is a father to the fatherless (Psalms 68:5). We believe God has a special place in his heart for kids growing up without their father and we want to provide encouragement and support for them.

We are also working on resources that will help strengthen families.
